How to make your kids’ summer fun with a ‘kids club’
What if you could make a fun summer party at home?
A new concept from an Australian company is hoping to do just that.
Nasas Kids Club is an Australian-led initiative that will launch in the US next month, and will be the first of its kind in the world.
The program aims to introduce children to a wide variety of different activities, from arts and crafts to music, food and sports.
“We’re really excited about the opportunity to bring together a diverse group of people who are all interested in the same thing,” co-founder David Pomeroy said.
“Kids can go to an activity and find a community that’s like-minded, that’s open to them, that wants to be their friend.”
The team is trying to harness the power of social media to make this happen.
They’re using the hashtag #KidsClub to launch their campaign and a new app, which will be available to download from the app store later this month.
“It’s a little bit of a challenge to get kids to join and interact,” Pomeroys said.
The team hopes to reach kids who otherwise might have missed out on these activities.
“If they go into the store and are like, ‘Oh, I have to get this, I don’t have a space,’ or they go to the gym and they’re not really getting it,” Pomeroy said, “they can come back and join a little fun, a little thing.”
The concept behind the project is to connect children with activities that make them feel more connected to their community, as well as engage in fun, educational and social activities.
The idea for the campaign, however, isn’t to just promote a bunch of activities to kids, but to create an inclusive community for all children.
“You can make the most of the time you have together,” Pomo said.
Pomeroy says the idea behind the campaign is to create a welcoming, inclusive space that is safe and fun for all.
The team has recruited artists, musicians, children’s writers, designers and other community members to work with them on this project.
Pomeroys said he was inspired by his mother who was very involved in the local music scene and a local art museum.
Poms goal with the project was to create something that would allow children to experience a variety of things they’d otherwise never experience.
“The idea is to give kids a place to gather and create and grow, and have fun,” Pomers said.
In the US, the program will be hosted by the NSCAA and will start with a week of activities.
Once the program gets going, they plan to add in other activities in the weeks ahead, including arts and craft and sports activities.
As part of the program, there will be classes to learn skills such as hand-eye coordination, writing and music composition, Pomeroya said.
He hopes to make the program accessible to children from the age of 5, so they can participate as well.
The group hopes the program can be a part of a larger program in the future, as they will be expanding to more schools.
Pomeera said the idea for Kids Club comes from his mother.
She is a musician, who he said was also an artist.
